As students in an IB school, we are constantly encouraged to think globally while acting with compassion in our local communities. Thanksgiving offers a meaningful opportunity to do exactly that. Beyond the traditional meal and family gatherings, this holiday reminds us to slow down, reflect, and express gratitude for the people, opportunities, and learning experiences that shape our daily lives.

Celebrating Thanksgiving in an IB environment also connects to our core values: being caring, balanced, reflective, and open-minded. It encourages us to appreciate diverse cultural traditions while recognizing the importance of community and service. Whether it’s thanking a teacher who has supported us, acknowledging group-mates who make CAS projects possible, or appreciating the friendships that help us navigate academic challenges, Thanksgiving reinforces the spirit of gratitude that strengthens our school culture.

In a world that often feels fast-paced and stressful, taking time to celebrate Thanksgiving helps us become more mindful and grounded—qualities that truly embody what it means to be part of the IB learner profil
